ABOUT EYRIE VINEYARDS
In 1965, David Lett planted Oregon’s first pinot noir vines in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, essentially creating what has become one of the most important wine growing regions in the world. Grapes from these original vines are still being harvested from their ‘Eyrie’ Vineyard, and Eyrie has become a landmark producer of not just Pinot Noir, but of a range of cool-climate grapes including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and lesser-known varietals such as Pinot Meunier and Chasselas Doré. The wines of Eyre Vineyards are among my favorite in the world, and as much as they represent winemaking and terroir in Oregon, they represent a living history and a story that continues unfolding vintage after vintage.
